"Gather
'round, lads.... gather 'round"... Do you remember when you first realized that you were a motorcyclist? I do. I remember the EXACT moment. It was a sunny day in 1965. I, a skinny 10 year old, came home from school, threw down my books, packed a snack, and headed out to the garage to get my bicycle for my daily "adventure" exploring the back roads of Nashville. When I got to the garage...beside my bike, there was my father leaning over and polishing a shiny new Yamaha. I can recall his first words as if it was yesterday.. "Wanna go for a ride?" I remember him cooly getting on..kicking it to life.. me climbing up behind him and wrapping my little fingers around his thick waist. He grasped my hands, leaned around and said ..."hang on". The very minute we pulled out of the driveway I remember thinking... I hope this ride NEVER ends. At that EXACT moment...I knew. That was 35 years ago and with the exception of a year that I lived in Central America, I have always owned, ridden, and more importantly, loved motorcycles. ALL motorcycles. With the exception of going to movies and possibly scuba diving, nothing brings me more pleasure. I feel so fortunate that after these many years, I am fortunate enough to have been able to build a thriving business around both working with and riding on world-class motorcycles. Only in America. As for now.. I'm having fun designing products for the K'ster and a few other bikes and of course meeting K12 riders. My plan for the foreseeable future is to continue specializing in K12 goodies, knowing full well that somewhere down the road I'll have to branch out, which we are slowly doing with the MV Agustas, but for now...my heart belongs to the K12 series. As with everything else in life... this K12 site will evolve. Change is a constant. Hopefully, with the thoughtful help and advice of my fellow riders ...Pirates' Lair can and will grow. |
Lastly, while the personal verbiage is flowing like the Yangtze on a rainy day, I'd like to acknowledge two special people for their inestimable contributions to this project. To my long time friend and "personal" web-guru Wayne.. "Thanks, my brother for your advice, long hours, and tireless dedication to making this site a visual reality. Your HTML skills are extraordinary.. your fight with the guards.. magnificent." (Inside joke) And to my lovely and talented significant other, Amber... "You'll never know how much your guidance, patience, understanding, and of course, your encouragement means to me, my "sweetness."Couldn't have done it without you."
