I installed the HID 35 watts (both high and low beams) on my ‘08 1098S. In over 7000 miles in rain and some pot holed streets here in Manhattan and can say that they work flawlessly. I rode to TN for the BMW MOA last year and rode some of the great roads there in both day and night. The lights are simply super white and really light up the roadway. In fact, the lights were so bright that they cast a shadow of my riding buddy who was riding ahead of me and he freaked out and decided to ride behind me instead. He said it was like riding with the sun behind him but at night! You could see all the road signs reflected way ahead in the distance as well as the reflections of deer by the roadside. You can also see which way the road is going when in a curvy section, so no surprises. I did remove the blocker plate on my low beam for a better spread but kept the high beam plate on. Highly recommend this light upgrade specially if you ride a lot at night. Daytime visibility is also greatly enhanced (specially with both headlights on). The cagers see you and move out of your way. At night I just keep it at low beam in the city but use both out in the country. Installation was a bit problematic on the Ducati as the polarity was reversed on one headlight so after I figured this out (Ducati forum was a big help) I just reversed it. I can easily go back to stock anytime so it’s really plug and play. By the way, I mounted the ballasts under the black plastic “box” located in the mid fairing since I read of some dash malfunctions where ballasts are mounted underneath the dash. I also like their lifetime warranty! Cesar Blardony / New York, NY / 2008 Ducati 1098S |
Thank again, Pirate, for shipping the H7s so quickly. The installation was, as you indicate on your site, idiot proof! I had a kid lined up to do the install since I was doing trip prep for AZ but after looking at the pieces and reading the old instructions, it became clear that it was very simple. Remove old bulb Drill hole in cover Put new bulb assembly and grommet through hole Plug two spades into existing BMW bulb plug Insert new bulb and secure Install cover Affix ballast and wires to frame avoiding steering dampner and suspension parts Test .. Drink beer. It took longer to get the plastic off than it did to complete the install. I was going to give the other one to my little brother but I’m going home tonight and putting one in a high beam spot and see how well lit the world can be at night.A bargain at that price my friend, and an install that can be done by the average rider. Again my thanks. Tom Jarlock / Covington, LA / 2007 BMW K1200S |
The HID install on my RS went extremely smooth. Cut the hole, slapped it in, great lights! It's pouring here so haven't had a chance to test them on the road, but man what a difference it made in the garage. Thank again Jerry, you are the man! Leonardo Cedeno / Okinawa, Japan / BMW 1999 K1200RS |

I have thoroughly road tested the HID lights and they are superb! Perfect and more than enough brightness. Great color too. Thanks for the lights!! I think between the Flashing rear LED tailights, the light buddies, the Stebel Nautilus air horn, Piaa running lights and the HID, I'm covered for safety!!! Thanks again!! I know you can not publish this but FUCKING AWESOME ! now what you can publish... Fitment was easy to a degree, finding a spot for the ballast and bits is not a simple task as the suspension moves a bit in there.. However I was fitting two of them to one bike.. I left one standard main beam in as it takes a second to warm up... ( I did put the ballast on the top of the suspension arm to start with but notice a noise over a few "larger Bumps" and also noticed that the speedo fluctuated a bit with the high voltage close to the back of it) Moved them away and it went back to normal. Rode some 800 miles yesterda , Jacksonville-Miami and return, 7 hrs in the dark and its like day at night... I think a few of the cage drivers thought the "rapture" was occurring behind them on I 95. Move over BIATCH.... Ave speed 76MPH, Aver fuel consumption 43.7. I LOVE MY K1200S ! Philip Nicholas / Green Cove Springs, Fl / BMW K1200S |
In a word...BRILLIANT....pun intended!! I'd read a lot of reviews about how upgrading the high beam was a waste of time and just to convert the low. Couldn't disagree more. Granted, it does take a second or two for the high beam to color stabilize when ignited, but the difference over the stock halogen is remarkable. Install for both low and high beam was a piece of cake. The instructions aren't much good, broken English for the most part, but given that there are really only two wires to connect to the bike (per lamp) and the bulb to ballast connectors will only mate one way, it's almost idiot proof .Completely plug-n-play.Taking the "beak" and the instrument cluster off the bike made the physical install a snap and made the supporting frame accessible for mounting the ballasts. Easily one of the best upgrades I've put on any of my bikes! Thanks again. Ian Ian Robertson / Salisbury, MD / BMW R1200GS |
Hi Jerry. I wanted to let you know that the installation of the K7 HID on my K1200LT went really well (apart from a few hours of body parts re and re !) and I am pleased with the improvement in the amount of light. Regards, Des FitzGerald / New Westminster, BC / 2000 BMW K1200LT |
