I personally road tested one of the early (and now discontinued) Type-1 acrylic mounts (pictured) and it worked flawlessly. Besides the reasonable pricing, I discovered numerous advantages of this mount over some of the competition. My observations...Your detector is up under the fairing.. protected from wind, bugs, and light rain... It's mostly out of view of passing cops so you aren't blatantly displaying it to the law abiding world...Due to the nature of the design, the mount swivels as you raise and lower your windshield... The mount (which stretches across the two upper windshield posts) places your detector high enough so that (at least for my 5'8" height) you have a completely unobstructed view of ALL your gauges...It's light as a feather and lastly.. it doesn't look at all out of place on the bike like many on the market. My personal "thumbs up" for design, form, and function. The designer guarantees all hardware for 1 year and we back that up with a full replacement warranty

Note: The Avant Guard mounts were designed to be used with the factory windscreens. They are NOT compatible with most aftermarket windshields like the Cee Bailey or Aeroflow. We are pretty sure they ARE compatible with all ZTechnik shields.
